Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Our receptionists are there to help you by processing the huge variety of administrative tasks to ensure the practice runs smoothly. They also run the appointment system as accurately and effectively as possible. The receptionists are on hand to deal with patient queries, both face to face and over the telephone.

Clinical Pharmacist

Mr Jim Loudon (m)

Jim is our Practice Clinical Pharmacist. He is an expert in Cholesterol Management, Heart Disease and Blood Pressure Monitoring.

He also manages, reviews and advises on medication.

Jim holds clinics at the Surgery every Monday 1.00pm—4.00pm.

If the Doctors think you would benefit from his expert advice you will asked to make an appointment with him. Alternatively if you feel you would like to see Jim please ring to make an appointment.


The dispenser is employed to deal with matters concerning repeat prescriptions. If you live more than 1 mile from a pharmacy they will be able to dispense your prescription.

The District Nurses look after patients who need nursing care at home, particularly older or terminally/chronically ill patients, and help with post-operative care for all ages.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Community Midwife

Our midwife is available for advice ante-natally, during and after child birth. She also runs a clinic at the surgery on Fridays 12:30 to 13:15. Please ring the surgery for an appointment.

Macmillan Nurse - Emma Miller

Macmillan Nurses offer help and support to cancer patients and their families, from the time of diagnosis. They are also available for bereavement counselling.
